Wechselschicht = rotating shifts.  For the medical professions, shift duty is better than shift work.

*to work (in) shifts"  is a very frequent way to phrase it.

If you want to specify, it is "1st, 2nd and 3rd shift"  "Graveyard shift" is (usually) 23:00 - 7:00.
Antwort:
AE  #453996
von Lisa4dict (US), 2009-08-13, 22:53  like dislike  Spam?
depending on the text you could also try "do shifts" or "do rotating shifts". "work shifts" is more common in AE than "shift duty", even for medical professions.

In Drosophila, the best characterized assay for associative learning and memory is an odor-avoidance behavioral task.

Bin mir nicht ganz sicher wie ich o.g. Ausdruck richtig wiedergeben kann. "bestcharakterisierte Untersuchung" kommt mir irgendwie merkwürdig vor (oder?)

Gibt es dafür im Deutschen einen speziellen Ausdruck?

are the same as plcs in the UK. Some AGs are the equivalent to limited companies in the UK. Interestingly, the Swiss often do translate their company names into English. For instance Hoffman-La Roche & Holcim both call themselves Ltd in English texts and AG in German ones. I assume from this that the preferred translation in Switzerland is Ltd. However I find the use of a translation of AG/GmbH etc. a pain and wherever possible translate the company name back to the German or French original when I write about Swiss companies for work precisely because the legal forms of companies in Germany, Austria and Switzerland do not neatly correspond to the legal forms in the UK or the US.

Also, typically, if writing that a company is an Aktiengesellschaft, then the phrase joint stock company is used. However, the only place I have seen JSC as part of a company's name is with Russian companies.

In Deutschland wurde fuer die ersten drei Monate diesesn Jahres nur ein Rueckgang um 3.5% verzeichnet, anders als die zuvor gemeldeten/angezeigten/berichteten/angegebenen 3.8%. You could also put some brackets in the middle of the sentence like this Anders als der zuvor angegebene Wert (3.8%) verzeichnete man in Deutschland lediglich einen Rueckgang von 3.5%.
(BTW I fail to see how "Rueckgang verzeichnen" is any better or worse than "shrink" AFA choice of expressions is concerned.)
