which is rather 'poetic' than scientific.
Collins gives inanimate world für unbelebte Natur.

organic is most often used in general conversation to mean has been produced largely without artifical fertilisers and pesticides, but can also mean living. Be careful with "organic", in ambiguous contexts, I think a lot of English native speakers will assume the fertilisers/pesticides mening.

inorganic, non-carbon based materials. It's called organic because it was thought that all life was based on these compounds.
Antwort:
I got no problem if we leave it in the realm of chemistry,  #220456

but as Laura said - in common usage it might be misunderstood (though correct). So then, we need context again to decide what's better :-)

I agree with Laura and esmeralda on the problems of misunderstanding organic  #220461

I wanted to show that it could be even more confusing :-)

If the German is "poetic" as ddr says, then, as she also says, animate/inanimate would be good. But more context would help, as always.
