(sorry about the missing accents). There are two kinds of Paris people: The ones preferring Deux Magots, which is about 30 metres away from Le Flore and the ones visiting Flore. I preferred Flore, and I spend hours and hours there an was even allowed to pay by cheque despite a big sign: La maison n'accepte pas les checques. Quelle honneur!

You are right, but I apologized already for the missing accents in the thread above - it's a question of the keyboard I'm using at the moment (I've got different ones for every language, and the one I use at the moment needs to be tricked for the accents.)

but there's still the additional "e" :)

Hey, there was no offense meant! I hope one day I'll finally see Paris... never been there yet. i will visit the café, then.

No worries, I didn't take it offensive. Le Flore is worth a visit. And it is Saint-Germain-des-Prés not: du Pres. So don't go wrong!

Les jours beaux: ne pleurer pas qu'lis sont passé, mais sourire qu'ils sont été!

Btw: Saint-Germain-des-Prés is a little bit different today and no more as interesting and intellectual as in former times, I think.

I know - back then I lived at rue Bonaparte (this explains why Le Flore was my regular café); I've been back in Paris in the meantime - anyhow: every place someone calls in a way "his place" always depends on the people he knows living there. We gain and we lose - that's what it's all about...

Cafe Flore is certainly worth a visit but St German des Pres is indeed resting on its laurels  #221611

as far as I can tell it has no identity anymore - it is a strange combination of people searching for the old, intellectual, epoch-defining Paris, voyeurs and Armani/Louis Vuitton laden people who like to be seen.

Belleville is the place to be!!

It was always Belleville, Sue!  #221620

However, I LOVE THE FLORE! It is a place where THE WAITER decided what I need to drink next (in order to keep the order!), and he was never wrong. That's what a waiter is there for! How can I know, the customer, about all the treasures in their cellars? I would have missed out on some of the best sequences I ever had. (This doesn't speak at all against Belleville). But imagine, Sue: returning from Belleville, and Flore still open, and your app just a minute away. Would you resist? I doubt.
