Doktorstag - day university (Wittenberg) awarded doctorates? But then what is Thesentag?

Antwort:
Yes that's probably it.  #239540

I was getting a little confused because St. Martin's day, Luther's birthday and Luther's son's birthday all fall close together - but, yes, the day he obtained his doctorate was probably some other day of the year.
Antwort:
St. Martin's day has got nothing to do with Martin Luther ;-)  #239571

St. Martin was Bishop of Tours and the first person ever sainted by the Latin church, somewhen in the 3rd century .....

Martin Luther had been awarded his academic title in 1512 and published his theses in 1517 - two dates which were that important to him and/or Katharina that they obviously celebrated those days every year
Antwort:
From one of rt's previous postings, Martin Luther celebrated St. Martin's Day as his Namenstag,  #239604
