Hello all,

England can also be called as United Kingdom, Great Britain, Britain. Similarly is there any other name for Germany (Deutschland in German)?

Also please explain is there any reason for other names of England?

No. England cannot  be called  United Kingdom, Great Britain or Britain  #439359

England is a part of each  (btw.: to be called something, not "as"
England (or Albion, as the poets call it) is only one of the three kingdoms on the island of Britain, as there are also Wales and Scotland.  #439360

(hence the nation is called United Kingdom). Great Britain also includes the Irish province of Ulster.

Another name for Germany is the Federal Republic (die Bundesrepublik), or the Land of Poets and Thinkers ("Das Land der Dichter und Denker").
Also kann man nicht mehr schreiben "die Bundesrepublik der Dichter und Denker?"  #439361

The name has varied according to political circumstances. See:
Wikipedia(EN): Great_Britain
Strictly speaking, Ulster (Northern Ireland) is not part of Great Britain; this consists only of the main island: i.e. England, Wales and Scotland. Then there is the United Kingdom of Great Britain AND Northern Ireland.
Remark: the flag under which Australia was settled is not the same as the current flag of the United Kingdom. In 1788, the flag consisted of a merger of the Cross of St George and the Cross of St Andrew. The Cross of St Patrick was added later.
Wales is no kingdom, it is a principality; the Prince of Wales translates into Fürst von Wales  #439388

It's nice to know that you call Ulster an Irish province.I agree, but to be perfectly correct in this matter six counties of Ulster 'belong' to the UK, the other three counties to Ireland.
I didn't want to be unprecise, just follow the KISS-principle  #439425

Six counties are under John Bull's tyranny.
And still De Valera is greatly to blame
For shirking his part in the patriot game."

BTW: I'm gonna be in Ireland this coming September to the Flax Mill Yardfest in Dungiven near Derry: - whoever will be around may feel invited to meet me there!
