"pursuit of traces"? Klingt nicht richtig in meinen Ohren... Hat jemand eine zündende Idee? |
Antwort: | Tracks | #452756 |
When in German you have a fairly long adjectival phrase before a noun, you might have to go to a clause in English. E.g. something like: Following the tracks that are as yet only faint has so far not led to valuable results. (There might be a more suitable word for 'valuable'.) |
Antwort: | Following up clues that have so far remained vague has not yet resulted in any practical results. | #452758 |
Antwort: | Or, borrowing from Catesse: Following up as yet vague clues has not yet resulted in any practical results. | #452762 |
Antwort: | Proteus | #452772 |
4; Proteus: That was my first thought, but I wanted to avoid using 'yet' twice. |
Antwort: | So then: Following up as yet vague clues has so far not resulted in any practical results. | #452785 |
Antwort: | Danke! | #452799 |
Super, dankeschön, das klingt doch prima! :-) |
Antwort: | Ouch, Proteus | #452821 |
Out of the frying pan into the fire: 'resulted in any practical results'. How about we compromise on 'produced any practical results'? |
Antwort: | Quite right: Following up as yet vague clues has so far not yielded any practical results. | #452823 |
