Frage:
die Schulterblätter zusammenziehen
von Dave, 2010-02-21, 10:08  like dislike  Spam?  41.174.60...

what does that mean exactly?

squeeze your shoulder blades together or
tense your scapular muscles
(There may be more definitive muscles or muscle groups named by exercise experts, but I'm not one.)
Did you just need that phrase or the entire text.  In the latter case, please give us your try first.
Antwort:
just the Schulterblätter ziehen part. Thanks Lisa. :)  #497840

"shoulder blades" are actually bones which are attached to various muscles.   The muscles could contract, but you can't contract bones.  (4 whole ghits make me think that this view would also hold in BE ;-)

Your quibble, Lisa, holds equally for die Schulterblätter zusammenziehen ... Why must a mere translation be more convincing than the source text?  #497873

How often do we puzzle out the meaning of things that are clear to no one but the original writer?
I think I better turn in.  I have reached the grumpy quibbling stage, it seems.

Kann mir diesen Text jemand ins deutsche übersetzen, sonst verzweifele ich dran xD -.- bitte:

A motor Race
Lots of shouting fans were watching the exciting race. Everybody hoped that the good-looking driver in the red car whould win. Coming around the corner, he went past the leading car and crossed the finishing line. Then he suddenly stopped on the grass next to the track. His worried manager phoned him´on his mobile. What`s the matter? he asked. You`ve won the race. Listen to your fans. Their shouting would wake the dead. Why don`t you drive a lap of honour?. The young driver sounded amused. I can`t, he said. The car has no more petrol.
