These is plural of this.  It tends to refer to sb. or sth. that is near, or close at hand.
Those is plural of that, and tends to refer to something physically distant, or distant in time.

Distance can also be psychological - those pervs are pervs one prefers to keep distant from  #501426

... physical distance ...

Or it can be a psychological distance as in:

   # That's nothing to do with me.. (distant)
   # This is a nice surprise! (near)

Ought we to rely on what you happen to think, Squeeze, or on the authority of good (online) grammar sources?  #501460

e.g. Sonny has many qualities worth recognizing, and the purpose of this letter is to point out two of these/those qualities.

As a determiner this is used to identify a specific person or thing close at hand or being experienced.(!!!)  As a determiner that refers to the more distant of two things near to the speaker, or to a specific thing previously mentioned.
So in the context mentioned these would be best.

In our example above you could say these  perverted people because you have specific persons ( the perverted people)  being experienced. You say it more in general: Diese perversen Leute
You can use those if you mean a specific group with physical distance ( Diese perversen Leute - dort irgendwo)

so I was right

those=  a specific group of people somewhere ( in distance)

but these =  in general  everybody who is perverted ( by you experience)
or, of course , you want to point out a specific group standing next to you( bit it's more rarely)

BUT it can also show that the speaker wants to put even more distance between him/herself and the people/things in question and speak of "all those pervs" (meaning everyone who is perverted) and the speaker can, in absolutely no circumstances, be connected to them in any way.
