Frage: | to get sb. in his/her right spot | |
a preacher says that his audience doesn't really listen. They like the blood when he talks about the blood of Christ, but they're not listening. You get ‘em in the right spot, they’re not even listenin’. Wie meint er das "you get 'em in the right spot"? |

There seem to be two possibilities: (a) you touch the audience in their heart (b) you draw the audience's attention to your main point However, each of these seems to be ruled out by the fact that they are not listening. Perhaps the speaker's complaint really is that even when he uses the rhetoric which normally works, he is still finding no response. |

Preachers use all sorts of phrases to indicate that people are falling short of being a real Christian. On the surface what he says seems contradictory, but in preacher talk it means: You say you love the Lord, you come to church, you think you are listening, but you really aren't listening. Because if you really were listening, your lives would be different - you'd be a better or more committed Christian. Short answer: What Wandle said: you touch the audience in their heart |
