http://fachwerkhaus.historisches-fachwerk.com/fachwerk/index.cfm/ly... Look at the description here for reference. Klaue is another word for Kerve. It's a cut in the rafter. Now look at the description and the second picture here: http://www.diydata.com/general_building/roof_construction/roof_cons... Found a German Wikipedia page: Wikipedia(DE): Holzverbindung The English Wikipedia only has a mention of a board under coping saw: Wikipedia(EN): Coping_saw |
Chat: | yes, I know - and you are probably right ... klauentiefe könnte auch ganz wortwörtlich gemeint sein - sie pic bei Wiki ... | #541470 |
Antwort: | you tell them Lisa:) | #541471 |
this description from your link is pretty clear: Eine Klaue besteht aus einer waagerechten Fläche, auf der der Sparren auf der Pfette aufliegt, und einer senkrechten Fläche, die an der Vorderkante der Pfette anliegt. That is an exact description of a birds mouth in a rafter and then as you say, the tiefe is its depth |
Antwort: | Answer: you tell them Lisa:) | #541474 |
Actually its like sunfunlili says wörtlich , a klauen tiefe. Or a claws depth. Definitiv not birds mouth. |
Chat: | roof = Dach, rafter=Dachsparren | #541481 |
http://www.woodworking.de/cgi-bin/forum/webbbs_config.pl/noframes/r... http://www.harzerstatik.de/Pfettendach-Firstgelenk_Beispielausdruck... http://www.hamburger-bildungsserver.de/hera/pdf/2005/Daten/PDFs/Abi... Nothing about Hammers or other tools. Just Pfetten and Sparren. The English doesn't have anything to do with an actual bird. The cut just looks like the open beak of a bird. The Germans were more reminded of an open claw. At least in that region. The other expressions "Kerve" and "Karve" are derived from / related to "Kerbe". |
Antwort: | Klaue is another word for claw | #541492 |
Klaue equales claw, like Klauenhammer or claw hammer, The translation over jahr Zehnten ist schlecht . |
