Frage: | help very much appreciated | |
Nun erschießt Arid U. am Frankfurter Flughafen US-Soldaten, die aus Afghanistan zurückkehren. Er sagt, er wollte sich rächen. Afghanistan? War da was? At the Frankfurt Airport, Arid U. has now shot US soldiers who came back from Afghanistan. He says, he wanted revenge. Afghanistan? What was there again? What does this have to do with us? No answer, only the silence after the shot. What do German soldiers think when their American comrades get shot on German soil? They will also arrive at German airports. But nobody asks them, because Germany has cut the cord to the outside world again. The country is just dozing along, numbed by the chloroform of its own provincialism. |

At the Frankfurt Airport, Arid U. now shoots dead two US soldiers coming back from Afghanistan. He wanted, he says, revenge for Afghanistan? Ring a bell? Is this anything to do with us? No reply, just the silence after the shot. What do German soldiers think when their American comrades are shot dead on German soil? They, too, will arrive at German airports. But nobody asks them, because Germany has cut the cord to the outside world again. The country is lying in a stupor, numbed by the chloroform of its own provincialism. shoots dead - historical present Wikipedia(EN): Historical_present |

'At the Frankfurt airport' is possible, and is not a mistake in English usage, but on the other hand it is not idiomatic. 'At Frankfurt airport' is nowadays the usual way to say it. |
