Frage: | Wife of Bath | |
Can anyone tell me the exact meaning of "she has turnd into the "Wife of Bath"? In the context it's about a woman who has had several husbands. Thanks a lot! Colm Toibin |

thank you so much for the speedy info! In other words does it have to do with antifeminist believes and female dominance? Or just the fact that a woman has had several husbands? |

I would say that it merely relates to a "monogamously challenged" female, i.e. someone who finds it hard to remain with one husband. It's critical (tongue in cheek in Chaucer), but not necessarily antifeminist or misogynist. |
