Frage:
Chickenhawk
von -Clarissa- (DE), 2012-05-04, 18:49  like dislike  Spam?
They're talking a lot about Dick Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld these days and call them chickenhaws, because they never served in the military, though tend to advocate war.

I found the meaning of pederast for chicken hawk in this dictionary, but it looks like there's this other political meaning as well.

I also found this: http://www.sourcewatch.org/index.php?title=Chickenhawk

Politically, a "hawk" is a very militaristic person, while a "chicken" is slang for a coward.  Therefore, someone who is brave enough to want to fight wars...with other people's lives.

Right, a chicken-heart. I knew this all before, just the combination chickenhawk was new to me these days. I just share that to tell the dict-community this isn't in this dictionary yet.

Another question is: Did Cheney get his new heart from a hawk or from a chicken???

Good catch, Clarissa, I think the word deserves a place in the dictionary here. If anybody is interested:

Dick Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld are political figures; the political definition of chickenhawk is applicable.

I have never heard "pederast" equated with "chickenhawk", nor "chickenhawk" used in a sexual context.

See, the pederast meaning isn't in Webster's unabridged either.

What, our House speaker did not serve? Although he has this amazing attitude of a western film hero?? Well, you probably have to make a decision as hero : guns or whiskey. Oh well, whiskey isn't all that bad.....

Well Henry the Chicken Hawk doesn't talk much and bites instead -- which means he is a doer. Not chickenhearted at all, but undoubtedly a true hawk.

A human chicken hawk just talks big in things military, but never did it. He is pretending to be a hawk, but actually he is a chicken.
