Wäre euch sehr dankbar!

Is fearr beagán den ghaol ná mórán den charthanas.

or do you need something literal, rather than a similar proverb?

Zitat. Frage: I want a tattoo of blood is thicker than water written in Gaelic
Antwort: Well, there is an Irish equivalent to that phrase:
Is fearr beagán den ghaol ná morán den charthanas
A little bit of relationship is better than a lot of friendship.
If you still want a literal translation it would be:
Is raimhre fuil ná uisce.

Bzw. hier

Zitat: I was in Ireland this past summer and got "Is tibhe fuil ná uisce" tattooed on my wrist (along with my sister, we found it in an Irish proverb book). Directly translated its "Is thicker blood then water" meaning blood is thicker then water.

Zitat. Frage: I would like to know the gaelic translation of
blood is thicker than water
Antwort 1:: I think the phrase decided upon was:
Aithníonn an fhuil a chéile
Antwort 2:
A literal translation wouldn't work too well.
But, in any case, it would be:

The problem with a literal translation is, that it may not be understood in the original meaning.  Gaelic is close enough to English speakers, that people will know the English proverb and deduce the intent.  But at least one Irish comment on the web said: "So what. Blood is thicker than water, so are honey, glue and oil."  She was trying to indicate that it's not really an Irish saying in the non-literal meaning.
