Frage:
Archduke Franz
von Windbuchse (US), 2015-03-23, 09:34  like dislike  Spam?
1899 text, this is a description from archduke Franz concerning an incident in 1788,

I have-
None of us made a move and therefore we sent out only the airgun shooters with (captain) Vernatti, resulting we got away without further incident.

I'm just guessing at the last bit.

it's probably "worauf sie ohne weiters sich wegmachten", whereon they went away ...

The actual sentence reads.

None of us made a move ...    or   We couldn't detect any movement ... / They didn't make any move ...
otherwise why would "we" consequently send out the air gun shooters.  It also doesn't say "wir (we) uns wegmachten" but "sie (they) sich wegmachten.

What I ended up with, after the ocr error was caught:

None of us made a move and therefore we sent out only the airgun shooters with (captain) Vernatti, whereupon they went away.

Here's the full paragraph:

and my translation:

We pay equal (attention) to remain silent and not to shoot, because we were asked by one officer from the other column, that most of our people were, still firing. We marched in the square (formation) very slowly and from right outside the hills, where we marched still so far ahead of, until we came into some canyons. Here we stopped. As several people rode down from the hills in the bushes opposite our square, from that place they fired into our square and shot two of our men. They were brown, so either Turks or mounted Vlachs of the Free Corps. None of us made a move and therefore we sent out only the airgun shooters with (captain) Vernatti, whereupon they went away. Had the problem lasted much longer, we would have the Brentanischen and Sam. Gyulay’schen square, combined and formed a large square. Since we no longer heard shooting, we had the Field Marshal-Lieutenant Browne who found himself at the Grenadier column was commanded to join us and report the process of the thing.

I suspect there are more problems. Unfortunately Google does not display the entire page of your text, so all I have are some guesses. Please check whether this makes any sense in your context.

(sort of:) Immediately [gleich] we issued the command [befahlen] to be quiet and not to shoot,...

Es rührte sich aber Niemand...
2 sentences before he describes an attack. I guess he means, "after this short attack, nothing more happened" - So, they did not make a move. But when "we" sent our Windbüchsen-Schützen, they went away without any further action [ohne weiter(e)s]. [Compare ddr and Lisa4dict.]

Please note the dative. It was reported to the Feldmarschall - not the Feldmarschall had to report [that would be accusative in that construction].
This is hard for me to do in English ;)  My try:
As we did not hear any shooting any longer, we had report the incidence [ließen wir den Vorgang melden] to Feldmarschall... who (in turn) told us to join him.

der sich bei der Grenadiecolonne beFand,
"sich befinden" is simply "to be (there)"

If you click on "page image" you get the old print image.  I hope you can read that.  I often mix up letters, but can usually puzzle out the words from context.  Your text above has quite a few reading errors
https://books.google.com/books?pg=RA1-PA117&dq=Windb%C3%BCchsen...

<I hope I didn't add any typos>
I looked very closely, and the old print version has a B for Bernatti.  There is such a family name.

Thanks for all the help. My apologies for the ocr errors. I usually work very hard to make sure that the original  text is correct beforehand but obviously that didn't happen this time.
