Not sure about "Knotenbotschaft"  Knoten most likely is "node"  But "node message" or "node signal" makes no sense.

... people sometimes talk about "sleeping" control devices, which are in energy saver mode or the like. Those control may, of course, "wake up", e.g. leave "sleep mode".

Additionally, bus systems are often use which of course have "nodes" and transmit "messages".

Does that help?`Without further context, I can only do guesswork.

Cars nowadays are stuffed with electronics. If you put your foot on the pedal or shift gears, this fact is no longer communicated just mechanically, but by messages (just think bits and bytes) being sent on a linear bus system (basically a cable connecting everything), where every device (node) has its own address. Vital car systems (motor, brakes, etc.) typically are using the CAN protocol, less vital system (sliding roof, heating) using LIN protocol, and TV entertainment (CD player, etc.) using MOST. As suggested above, for reduction of power consumption unused devices are put into sleep mode and are waiting to be kissed by a prince... If you want all the bloody details, you probably have to buy a book.
