„Black sheep in the market“ (schwarze Schafe)

Hi everyone! It would be great if some English native speakers could help me with this:

Is it weird to speak of “black sheep in the market” in connection with market players that do not follow certain standards/the acknowledged code of practice (however no illegal practices!) Or would there be a better way of saying it?

but I would imagein that it would be understood when used in other contexts, but it should perhaps be avoided in very formal texts.

I would use black sheep of the (whatever) as that is the usual form (see the example in sunfun's OED excerpt).
