Coffee dripper
von Catesse (AU), Last modified: 2017-02-15, 04:45  like dislike  Spam?
I think that, not too long ago, I made a comment about the term "dripper" not being familiar here, but I cannot find my entry. Maybe I deleted it. My point: is it coincidence that Amazon is suddenly sending me information on purchase of coffee drippers?
Anybody else afflicted in this way? (I am not buying, so stop bugging me.)
Drip-brewed coffee has been around for a long time here.  #864966

Google: coffee dripper

We use an electric percolator coffee pot.

I bought one for my husband for his birthday some 20-30 years ago, but I never used it. It was his toy.
Maybe it was just a coincidence that Amazon is hounding me now. On the other hand, Big Brother is watching. I searched internet for a small TV a while ago, and three months after I bought one, I was still being plagued by ads.
Catesse:  Amazon will always remember your searches and/or purchases.  #864968

You'll get infos from them for similar products for a very long time. Same here. On certain articles like books, records and the like I find it quite convenient, as they show me similar products/authors/artists which I might be interested in.

Even if you click an amazon link in your google searches, they assume you're interested in their product.

Addons: Privacy Badger, NoScript and AdAway will do the job and you won't be annoyed anymore.

In ye olde days you could buy a newspaper and do with it what may please you. Read it, ignore it, or maybe use it as tp. These days, by the act of buying a paper you entitle the company to put up a newsstand in the midth of your living room. They track every eye movement (and possibly every bowel movement).

Some of the browser extensions that promise privacy are happily gathering data for commercial purposes of their own.

Thanks, Dracs, but I get hysterical at the mere thought of add-ons. I regard them all as potentially equivalent to Nigerian funny-money or ransomware.

This can be done within the browser settings without any add-ons.
Ask data-oblivious friends to order stuff for your through Amazon, and reimburse them.  #865000

Amazon  #865001

I don't buy anything except books through Amazon. Even then, there are other places that I prefer. My requirements are rather specialised, and Amazon has refused to try to get books that I wanted.
It is not that the appearance of such ads annoys me much; it is the knowledge that communications are apparently being monitored so closely.
