"CHEMICAL FORMULAS are not required, but when added they have to be placed in the left column, within square brackets [].
Only single elements from the periodic table like <Fe> and commonly used abbreviations like <CO2> are considered abbreviations to be enclosed in angle brackets."

Sorry for the discrepancy! The handbook has not been updated in a while. In such cases the official guidelines have the final word.

Thanks Paul!  I'll make the change.  Funny though, this is the first time I've run into a formula that wasn't in angle brackets.  No doubt someone's going to have a field day reopening all of those.  (It won't be I.)

I just wanted to say that in case the handbook and the guidelines contradict each other, please follow the guidelines. Even though I don't remember a case where this has happened before.

Bezüglich der Interjektionen widersprechen sich die beiden auch -- GL 9 sagt "Interjections and exclamations should be classed '[none]'.", aber 3.3.9 in Tomaquinatens Handbuch sagt: "should be tagged das such, e.g.: - Hiya! {interj} [coll.] = Hallo!"

Weiß ich. Aber vielleicht solltest du mal darüber nachdenken, oben in den GL nach "If you need more information than these guidelines can provide, please see the unofficial manual / FAQ document provided by Tomaquinaten at http://users.dict.cc/tomaquinaten/."; noch einen Satz hinzuschreiben wie: "It is not up to date anymore -- if there are contradictions, please follow the guidelines." o. ä.
