Dear all,

Woud you also say this is a senior league or simple veterans (which could refer to annuity rather than age)

SSVg Velbert 02 - Altherren,
SSVg Velbert 02 - veterans,

In North America, such a sports club team would usually be called  "masters" and play in the "masters division / league." Generally, you're a "master" if you have some experience in the sport and are at least 35 years old. "Veterans" was also used in the context of sports some time ago. But since 'veterans' also refers to people who served in the military, sports clubs tend to avoid that word to forestall confusion.

What about oldies team or golden oldies team? Sounds friendly enough ...  #894010

Many thanks.
That was my fault. I had omitted to say AE.

The sport with which I wasted a good part of my precious middle age slotted you into categories with official designations that could not be changed (Juniors, Seniors, Masters, Women). "Golden Oldies" would only work as a nickname within a club. But perhaps this is what this "corporate communications" is about.

Well, you can have a look at the players (first link). The "Altherren" AH-leagues start at Ü32 (older than 32). The 40+ players are called Oldies in Germany. Not sure, if AE speakers would confuse them with former Top 40 radio hits. What would you call the Ü30 ladies? Golden Girls? (This could possibly go wrong.)

Good advice--much can go wrong with 'oldies' and 'golden' in AE. For example, "golden years" often is an advertising euphemism for "one foot in the grave, the other on a banana peel."
Google: "golden years" assisted living
