Ein beseelbares Objekt - an (inanimate) object that can be ensouled so that it "comes to live" for the people dealing with it.
Literally: an "ensoulable" object. But for all I know, that word doesn't exist in English. Is there anything closely related that could be used? Instead of paraphrasing it?

Well, yes and no..., I've found "animatable" in the wiktionary too. Except it doesn't seem tobe used in normal" language but only a very limited and specific field in mathematics or IT, nothing to do with "soul" or ensoulment, life or animate beings. That's my problem...
"animat, a term defining artificial animals, which can be virtual simulations or physical robots." .... animistic objects?  #899107

(The animat: New frontiers in whole brain modeling)

since Descartes´ dualism, "der großen Trennung" (The Divorce Between The Sciences & The Humanities, Isaiah Berlin, 1979?)," beseelbar" is virtually to understand more or less metaphorically, according to that a "beseeltes Objekt", even "beseelbares Objekt" is a contradiction in terms. In the 18th century, scientists were still using awkward expressions like of "beseelte Tiere".

may be a horror subject in Gothic novels, see also the motive of the "beseelter Automat" in the german romantic (E.T.H. Hoffmann).

wasn´t the Golem "beseelt"? Or may be you can find something in the literature about animism (animistic object?). At the moment we witness another metaphor transfer, biological systems are explained in terms of "consciousness" as defined in AI research.
