Frage:
bone depreciation
von nigilmaadhust (UN), Last modified: 2019-04-01, 12:52  like dislike  Spam?
Hello Forum

is there a medical term to mean "bone weakening"?

Context: My grandpa gets pain in the knee because he is very old. His leg bones are weak.

I thought of using the word "depreciation" here. But I am not sure if "bone depreciation" sounds correct.

Could you please suggest me the perfect word for bone depreciation? Many thanks and have a nice day.

Edit: Can this be called "bone deterioration"?

Or is this different from "osteoporosis"? Thanks again.

Doctors are encouraged to use everyday words with patients in the UK. The NHS's page on osteoporosis says "Osteoporosis is a condition that weakens bones, making them fragile and more likely to break.". I don't like "depreciation", it doesn't seem right or clear.

Are bone loss and bone weakening same? Can "osteoporosis" be suited to both terms?

You were probably thinking of "bone depletion".
